I have a fear of heights, which is not a great trait to have as a photographer. Waking up at 4:00 AM and putting on a head lamp on to traverse the side of the canyon that I could potentially fall the distance of the empire state building was nerve racking. I also had to give myself a pep talk telling myself you have traveled a great distance, set your tried up on the edge and shoot! I crawled through the huge boulders along the edge of the cliff arranging my composition in the dark when I heard a huge rumble. Rocks on the other side of the canyon had fallen into the river. I was mazed that I could hear and see the huge rocks hit the water. A few minutes later the sun began to rise bouncing light off the canyon walls with golden and copper hues. I was amazed to see all the detail with the new camera system. After a few minutes of shooting, I actually got what I was looking for on the first day, which almost never happens.
